The Horrors of Making Money Creatively
After connecting a bunch of social media, listening to some ambient escape music, and feeling even more confused on how to monetize myself, I needed to lay down and fetal position myself.
Some of my thoughts are hard to describe, but one of them was related to a marketplace in which people sold their items on the street. Today when we go to the marketplace its owned by facebook. I have nothing against Facebook marketplace, but this is where the subject of networking without paid ads makes me cringe.
If you like to travel and have money to have the free time, awesome, but not all of us do in this economy and the idea or concept of networking to make money and perhaps help others out is so capitalized it almost drives me insane.
I don’t know how to be creative and make money. I don’t know if there is a way but I have uploaded close to 50 youtube videos and without saying how they have done, I will say that their quality is a question to be asked. Today quality looks like high cinematic performance, clean graphics and editing, continual talking points to give the viewer full access to the solutions required often to monetize yourself or increase popularity.
I am the exact opposite, I don’t do much of that and yet when I speak, I try to do it from a deep place within me which doesn’t always happen in fast paced audible patterns. I have looked into building a Facebook page, and using discord, snap, insta, twitter, reddit, and youtube for monetization but something keeps hinging me.
To Share Yourself Without A Return
Many of us gasp at the idea of sharing something valuable without asking for something in return.
- How will we survive?
- How will we be taken care of?
- How can I insure my liabilities?
- How can I take care of my loved ones?
- How can I accept myself if I lose everything I have?
This is no mission for the faint of heart, but there are many ideas out there that you should just share free content without expecting a return, “but look at narcissists” our minds will say! “They will find us and treat us like a doormat if we continue to share free content.” But what most of us don’t realize is that the creative authentic content that we share actually is at a level which removes narcissistic personality disorder. So it would be really hard for selfish people to continue use our content in vein.
People Who Just Want Free Content
And yes there are many people who believe content should be free and won’t bother paying for your work if it’s not free. Well these are the people I think need some ignoring because they don’t realize the incredible difficult capitalism pressures us into.
I will not say there is an ultimate solution to making a living doing what you love, but people who think you should always be sharing free content I believe need to learn the lesson of getting rejected if they think the world should revolve around them when over 90% of the world’s commerce is commodified around capital gains and shareholder returns.
I would say that this is no easy task and some have gone homeless trying this, but will we use fear to dimnish that love that actually transforms this world into a better place? Will we allow the darkness to supress what we came here for? Everyone must answer this question. But the last question I ask if you is if you will unconditionally choose to accept who you are no matter the circumstances and hardship you face?
I wish you courage, more courage, and reletless kindness towards all those who await your brilliance from your soul-work, especially yourself!
